Magaly Rivas was born and raised in Merida, Mexico. She moved to the United States to attend college. In 1990, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Communications from the University of Maryland. Upon graduation, she spent 10 years working with the Spanish language television networks, Univision and Telemundo, as a producer and reporter. Subsequently, she transferred to the public sector to work as the Press Secretary for U.S. Congressman Xavier Becerra, then President of the Hispanic Caucus.
Currently, Magaly is working on a new career. In June of 2008, she obtained her Montessori teacher certificate (3-6) and plans on furthering her education in the teaching field.
Ever since the birth of her children, Magaly has become more aware of the importance of taking care of the environment because “this will be the world my children will inherit.” She hopes to utilize her communication skills and teaching abilities to educate children to be environmentally conscious. |
