If not now, when, if not today, then, what about tomorrow (song by Melissa Etheridge)… powerful and truthful words that have inspired me deeply. KLME was born because we believe in children, we believe in their future and we believe in the now.

Every night when I tuck my children to sleep, I can't help but to wonder about their future, and what is going to be left for them, if we continue polluting the Earth. And honestly, my heart shrinks, like a snail back to its shell and then, for a moment, I feel helpless. I let my mind drift away with these negative thoughts until I snap back to reality. And I hear myself out loud saying “The smallest of changes make a world of difference

And this is how KLME begins, making small changes, starting with the smallest of people: children, and making them aware that the Earth has a fever. And the fever is rising. Children understand quickly. Their natural instinct is to help and to protect Mother Earth. Their willingness is contagious, their perseverance is powerful and their innocence is a blessing in disguise. Children are the engine from which KLME runs. We are powered by our renewable energy resources – faith and determination to slow down the climate crisis, a threat that is imminent, rising and universal .

There is a Spanish proverb that says, “En la unión está la fuerza” – or “In the union there is strength.” Private actions will help. But they will not take us far enough without collective actions. All over the world, entrepreneurs and inventors, continue to develop new green technologies to slow down the climate crisis. Let us all, give them a chance to change the world. Nobel Prize winner and former Vice President , Al Gore, wrote, “When we unite for a moral purpose that is manifestly good and true, the spiritual energy unleashed can transform us.”

Indeed, KLME started with a moral purpose “to stop Mother Earth from hurting any more.” Since our first school presentation, three years ago, there has been a continuous boundless flow of positive energy from children to children, children to parents, parents to parents and children to all of us at KLME. Our goal is to continue navigating on this river of energy that started with a drop of water, making its way down and into a creek to slowly reach the river, like millions of drops, with one destination, the powerful ocean. So let us all be part of this river of energy and join us in our efforts to heal our Mother the Earth.
